This is the second part of our blog regarding great smoothies that contain the magical ingredient of peanut butter. Peanut butter enhances a smoothie on so many levels, of course it packs a heavy protein punch, and it also adds sweetness to the drink while at the same time imparting a great nutty flavor. We continue with our first smoothie, and this time peanut butter is accompanied by luscious and tropical peaches.
Peanut Butter and Peaches
Many foodstuffs have little or no association with peanut butter and the main ingredient in this smoothie has little in common with the popular spread. Try peaches with some peanut butter in a bowl first, and you will be amazed at the taste combination, so much so that you will be bound to try this smoothie.
- Ingredients – one cup of frozen peaches, four bananas, quarter of a cup of peanut butter, half teaspoon of vanilla, pinch of cinnamon, pinch of nutmeg and two or three cubes of ice.
Firstly, gently warm up the peanut butter continuously stirring. In a blender pour the warm peanut butter, fruit and ice then blend together for approximately half a minute. Add in nutmeg, vanilla and cinnamon and blend again.
Peanut Butter and Chocolate
Whether you are just eating to live, or perhaps trying a fitness regime that will grow muscle. No matter what, your body requires protein and it is one substance that it cannot do without. Peanut butter is a great source of protein and added to a smoothie drink is a perfect power packed smoothie. The addition of chocolate in this smoothie adds and old friend to peanut butter as the two go together really well to form this high protein drink with a great flavor.
- Ingredients – one frozen banana, one cup of Greek yogurt, three tablespoons of cocoa powder, three quarters of a cup of low fat milk, one tablespoon of peanut butter, maple syrup to taste and chocolate syrup.
Blend the banana, yogurt, cocoa and milk for thirty seconds, and add the peanut butter and the honey and once again blend together, you may have to pay attention to the sides of the blender to get everything mixed properly together. When the mixture is at the right consistency pour it into a tall glass and top with the chocolate syrup.
Classic Peanut Butter
Up to now we have made some quite complex and intricate smoothies from a variety of ingredients and flavorings. But perhaps there are times when only a classic peanut butter recipe combination will suffice for your taste buds. Perhaps you should use this classic recipe as a base to try out more exotic combinations that you seem fit to experiment with. Really it is like an artist’s blank canvas that is just waiting for the correct splurge of paint.
Place all the ingredients into a blender until smooth, and that is it. A simple but perfect peanut butter smoothie that you can drop almost any other ingredient in to please your taste buds.
