If you like to dig into a lovely peanut butter and jelly sandwich as the chosen meal for your lunch, then you may wish to contemplate what other uses the delicious peanut spread can be used for. Obviously, it can be consumed with all manners of food, used as an ingredient for baking and as a sauce for many different dishes. However, you may just want to think outside of the box a little, and come up with some ideas of your own. Here we have listed some surprising uses that might help your musings.

Leather Cleaner

It doesn’t matter if you choose creamy or smooth peanut butter for our first example, your leather furniture will come to appreciate your decision. Take a cloth and put a small amount of peanut butter on it, then simply rub it gently in circles on the leather surface. Peanut butter is full of natural oils and these will help your leather furniture shine like brand new.

If you have a cockroach infestation problem, you will know how hard it is to get rid of the pesky critters, but your old jar of peanut butter might just be your savior. Place the empty jar carefully on its side where you have infestation; roaches, bugs, spiders will all crawl in with the lure of the tempting food. However, their legs will stick to the peanut butter and they will not be able to crawl out again. When the jar has snared a few unwanted guests, simply screw the lid firmly back on and toss the jar into the trash.

Ant Lure

Ants are another really unwanted infestation in your home, and they are difficult to eradicate. Peanut butter can be the base of a great bait to kill those pesky ants. Combine couple of spoons of peanut butter with one spoonful of borax and a half a spoonful of baking soda. Mix the three ingredients thoroughly together and place it on regular trails that you have noticed ants make. One word of warning is to keep other house pets away from the mixture as it can make them very ill.

Smell Eradicator

Leaving the pests alone for a while, another unwanted guest in your home is odors and smells. Everybody loves fish, but your house could stink for days after frying your evening meal. Unbelievably, peanut butter could be the answer. After frying your favorite fish, leave the pan on the hob, just add a dab of smooth peanut butter to it and let it fry for one or two minutes.
