Airplanes have impacted and continue to change the way transportation is perceived in the modern world. They can travel large ranges across seas and above cities. There are many different types of planes in the world, and they all have different purposes according to their make. There are luxury planes, where the visitors can experience luxury seating and food, there is the military edition, which is designed for speed and strength and cargo planes which rely on long distance and armor to deliver their packages. Airplane food is considered one of the worst things to eat. After a survey, the majority of people found that the food served on airplanes were of little quality and just tasted terrible in general. Many have attempted to spice up their food by bringing condiments like honey and peanut butter on the airplane, but none realize that peanut butter and other flavorings such as maple syrup are banned in the airspace.
Toothpaste, whiskey, and peanut butter are liquids that are not allowed at any circumstance on an aircraft. Although many still struggle to grasp that peanut butter is a liquid and not a solid, the evidence is clear; peanut butter is a liquid.
The Extent of Detection
Airport security is known to be extremely advanced, primarily since 2006 when the rule was enforced that no more than 3.4 ounces of liquid will not be allowed. However, airport security or just X-ray technologies have increased neither has it improved in any way. The X-ray machines available at the airport are still unable to distinguish between a harmful object and an everyday device. An example of objects that the airport isn’t able to distinguish between is a hairdryer and a gun. This occurs mainly due to the two objects having similar shapes and sizes.
Liquids are still an issue in airport security; this is due to its form which is defined by the container in which it is stored. However, airport security is now capable of identifying the chemical composition of a liquid. This allows for more advanced identification of foreign objects. This feature links directly to the reason why peanut butter in national and international airspace is banned. The chemical composition of peanut butter is identical to a harmful substance known as nitroglycerin. It consists of carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen. However, between these two liquids, only one is harmful; the other is just used for food.
Toxins and Identification
There are many types of bleaches and chemically harmful liquids in the world most are confiscated by airport security. However, identifying these liquids take up a lot of time and distinguishing them from normal liquids is extremely difficult. According to many, liquids are hazardous, even the liquids that we use and consume daily. Water is considered a hazardous substance because like it’s other liquids with a more complex chemical formation, it is corrosive and destructive. Fluids are also known to cause any damages to the structure of objects. For example, in bathroom builders continuously worry about the water seeping through the cracks and rotting the foundations of the house. This is also why water is usually not allowed on an aircraft.
